Charles C. Snyder - 1922-2007

Charles C. Snyder, 84, recently of Bellevue, Ohio, and formerly of Toledo, Ohio, died Monday, Feb. 5, 2007, in Orchard Grove Assisted Living in Bellevue.

Mr. Snyder was born Sept. 14, 1922, in Catlettsburg, Ky., to the late Walter C. and Anne (Cecil) Snyder. He graduated from Catlettsburg High School and was a World War II Navy veteran.

Coach Snyder had been a teacher and assistant football coach at Kentucky University, the head football coach at Marshall University and the assistant athletic director and assistant football coach at University of Toledo. He was a member of the Marshall University M Club and the Hall of Fame, was a Kentucky colonel since 1965 and a member of the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics, the American Football Coaches Association, the Kiwanis Club of Toledo and the Downtown Coaches Association of Toledo.

Survivors include his son, Wally (Diane) Snyder of Bellevue; a granddaughter, Andrea Snyder-Robinson of Cleveland; and a grandson, Michael Snyder, a student at The Ohio State University.

Mr. Snyder was preceded by his wife, Betty Jo (Jordan) Snyder, whom he married on Aug. 2, 1946, and who died on June 1, 2005.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter Snyder and Kenzie Snyder, and a sister, Annabelle Feaganes.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9, 2007, at Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home in Catlettsburg. Burial will be in Catlettsburg Cemetery.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, 2007, at the funeral home.
